Anxiety
Anxiety is a natural response to stress but when it becomes excessive, it can interfere with daily life. Together we will talk about what anxiety looks and feels like for you, and then find better ways to cope. We will develop tools and strategies that better manage and reduce symptoms of anxiety.
I like to utilize cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors.
Depression, Grief & Loss
Feeling overwhelmed by persistent sadness? Have you been feeling hopeless, a loss of interest or pleasure in activities that once brought you joy, fatigue or low energy, feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt, or difficulty thinking? These are all signs of depression. You do not have to be alone with these heavy feelings.
Have you recently gone through a major loss in life, losing someone close to you in death, separation or a breakup, and can’t shake thoughts and feelings about that person? Grief and adjusting to loss is a complicated, non-linear process that can be frustrating to navigate alone. You may feel embarrassed or a burden and not want to talk to friends and family.
I provide supportive listening and help you face these uncomfortable, painful feelings in a safe environment so we can process these big feelings and find ways to manage your new reality.
Communication Skills and Confidence
It can be hard to speak up in certain situations because you are internally battling with yourself. You’re suffering from self-doubt and worrying about what other people will think. Together we’ll look at those thoughts that pop up in your head and try to come up with new ways of thinking. We can practice scenarios together in role play and build up your confidence and communication skills during sessions.
Work-Life Balance
Do you wish you had work-life balance, but don’t know how or where to begin? Are you feeling overwhelmed and not sure how to make more time for what makes you happy? Let’s talk about it. We can brainstorm together and make a plan, and I can be someone who holds you accountable on that plan.
Living with Complicated and Chronic Health Issues
I have worked in hospitals since 2015 including New York Presbyterian Weill-Cornell and Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, and most recently in Westchester Medical Center. I worked with patients who were diagnosed with HIV, Cancer, Diabetes, and End Stage Renal Disease. I understand the toll these conditions take on individuals and their loved ones. I understand the burden and trauma medical care can pose to patients and their families. I understand how demanding and complicated treatment can be. And I understand the fear, pain, sadness, stigma, and isolation that can come with these diseases. Working with patients seeking kidney transplant, I know the specific issues they face and the challenging road of recovery that includes lifelong immunosuppression.
